Khawly is based in Miami, Florida but takes locum tenens assignments across the United States, traveling to rural areas and serving diverse and geriatric patient populations in California, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Virginia, and Washington. 

Kuhl has been recognized on the SIA Global Power 150 Women in Staffing list for the second consecutive year.

Of the 144 NPs surveyed, 13% said the COVID-19 pandemic is directly responsible for why they consider locum tenens, while over one-quarter (26%) said it increased their willingness to consider going locum. 

This inaugural award, presented annually during PA Week (Oct. 6–12), recognizes one PA who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to their profession and patients.

Of the physicians, physician assistants (PAs), nurse practitioners (NPs), dentists, and certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) surveyed, 9% said the COVID-19 pandemic was directly responsible for why they consider locum tenens assignments, while an additional 24% said the pandemic increased their willingness to consider locum work. 

The recognition showcases Barton Associates’ position in the industry as a trusted partner for locum tenens staffing solutions as healthcare facilities across the country continue to struggle with a shortage of physicians.

“It’s very humbling—I don’t see myself as a hero,” Rizkalla said about being named Barton’s 2024 Locum Hero. “As a healthcare professional, I believe that giving back to others is my duty. I hope this award will help raise awareness for the charities I support and my fellow volunteers.”

Nominations will be accepted from June 3 through June 28, 2024, and can be submitted on Barton Associates’ “Locum Heroes” nomination page.

In her new role, Moriarty will leverage her vast knowledge of the locum tenens industry to lead teams of experienced staffing consultants and account executives at two of Barton’s northeast United States offices.
