Here at Barton Associates, we have multiple teams whose primary goal is to ensure you find your ideal position as a locum tenens provider. One of these teams is recruiting, made up of the helpful professionals that you’re used to hearing on the other end of your phone line. Recruiters play a crucial role in forming your assignment experience, and are the main point of contact for providers between the agency and facilities. You’re likely to get personal with your recruiter, and that’s a good thing!
Ultimately, recruiters aim to land you a position where you’ll feel most comfortable. For that to happen, they’ll have to get to know you a little first. Engaging in conversation is one way your relationship with your recruiter can get off to a good start. Learning of your preferred specialty, weather, work setting, region, and more will help your recruiter filter through available assignments and find what’s right for you. And the best part is, once you establish this relationship, all you have to do is sit back and wait; a recruiter is bound to bring you something that abides by the parameters you’ve provided. Also, if anything ever comes up, your recruiter will have your back and arrange solutions on your behalf.
Nurse practitioner Stacy W. has been a locum tenens provider with Barton Associates since 2020. When setting up her first assignment in Wisconsin, she was struggling with her housing situation. “I had to renegotiate the contract financially because… it was just so expensive that I was like, I’m not gonna make any money out here… we need to re-discuss, or realign the the price point,” she said.
Thankfully, her recruiter Adam C. from Barton’s Worcester Office was quick to solve the problem. “Within 30 minutes, he had me a new housing option… it was great… to know that he was that fast to answer that problem was, wow, such a relief,” she said.
Stacy said she considers her recruiter, “a very good agent in many capacities because it is a very helpful feeling to have problems with anything in regards to your assignments, such as traveling, your rental, your housing, any of that, and to have an agent that is that responsive.”
Recruiters strive to solve problems quickly so you don’t face the strife, but they care about more than just the paperwork. Dr. D. Edwards, a former family doctor from Texas, has been a locum tenens provider with Barton since 2016. His recruiter the last two years has been Aleksa T., who works out of Barton’s Worcester office. “We’ve had a great working relationship, we talk regularly at least once a week and sometimes we veer off topic and, just, you know, keep up with what’s going on with each other’s lives,” said Edwards. “I’ve really kind of appreciated that because I like to know the people I’m working with and not feel like I’m just another number to them and vice versa.”
Their connection has helped breed a mutual respect for each other, and Aleksa urges that Edwards is certainly seen as more than a ‘number’. “Dr. Edwards is an absolute expert in his field. He is knowledgeable, easy to understand, approachable, and professional. He takes so much pride in his work,” she said. “I had [once] told Dr. Edwards that I was going on a vacation to Mexico and asked him if using a higher SPF makes a difference or if it was just a myth. [He] took time out of his day to explain the science behind this, gave me recommendations of what sunscreen to use, sent me articles of sunscreens to avoid and what to look out for, and answered any question I had while making sure I understood what he was saying. He always says ‘Does that make sense?’, and once I confirm, he continues on. Just from this small question I had, I know for a fact that he treats his patients the same exact way.”
Based on these reviews, and hundreds of others, Barton is confident our recruiters will give locum tenens providers the best experience possible when it comes to communicating, and finding assignments.
