When you think about Massachusetts, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? For many, it’s Boston, one of the most historic cities in the country and the most populous in the state. But trailing right behind Beantown in population is Worcester, an up-and-coming municipality located in central Massachusetts that’s nicknamed “The Heart of the Commonwealth.” In June 2018, we moved our Worcester office to the Mercantile Center—situated in the downtown area of the city—where we’ve continued growing our brand as the fourth largest locum tenens staffing and recruiting company in the United States. Read on for four reasons why you should build a rewarding career with us in Worcester, MA.
1. Premier Office Location
As mentioned earlier, our Worcester office is located in the Mercantile Center, a pair of high-rise office buildings situated right in the heart of the city. The office overlooks Worcester Common, a gorgeous public park flanked by city hall that’s full of interesting monuments and space that’s perfect for picnicking and relaxing.
There’s a lot more to our office’s location than just the nearby park—in fact, you can find a wide variety of food options in walking distance. Whether you’re feeling Mediterranean cuisine, a light lunch at a Japanese restaurant, or a steak and cheese sub, you can be sure there’s something around that will whet your appetite.
2. Fun Local Attractions
There’s also plenty to do nearby in the city, either after work with colleagues or on the weekends with friends and family. In the summer, hop on over to Polar Park and catch the Boston Red Sox minor league baseball team, the WooSox, for a fun day of strikes and home runs. Want to see a hockey game? The DCU Center is right near our office and is home to the Worcester Railers, an affiliate team of the NHL’s New York Islanders.
If art is more your speed, our Worcester, MA office is located around the corner from The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory for the Performing Arts. Here, you can catch plays that are coming off Broadway, concerts from popular bands, and even the ballet.
3. Great Office Amenities
We’ve been talking a lot about the areas around our office—but Barton’s Worcester, MA location itself is a great place to work. The office sports a large and modern kitchen that’s open for all employees to use, making breakfast and lunch preparation a breeze. In addition, every single desk at our office is near large windows that provide breathtaking views of the hustle and bustle of downtown Worcester. Unique to the office is a lending library, where you can take out books and read during your breaks.
