Discover How Mike Nich, ’13, Built a Successful Career at Barton

The summer after spending a fifth year at Endicott College to earn his MBA and play another year as the university baseball team’s star starting pitcher, Michael Nich entered what he described as a “horrific” job search.

It was 2013, the job market was tight, and although he sent out hundreds of applications, he received rejection letter after rejection letter—no interviews, no callbacks, nothing.

“I had the master’s degree, so the entry level positions didn’t want me,” Nich said. “Then anywhere that wanted a master’s degree, they’re not looking for somebody with no work experience. It was just really hard to fit into a bucket.”

Unsure what to do next, Nich began taking substitute teaching positions to pay the bills. While living with some of his friends in Salem, Massachusetts, he sent out an application to Barton Associates for a role in the marketing department. He was rejected—but in a twist of fate, he was encouraged to apply to an open account manager position at Barton, which he soon was hired for.

Today, over 11 years later, Nich has excelled in his role, holding the record for the highest sales of any Barton Associates employee in the company’s history—an impressive feat that recently solidified him as the inaugural inductee in the Barton Associates Hall of Fame.

In addition to our large sales teams, Barton Peabody is home to all 9 of our corporate and support departments. Located just off of Route 1, this location offers a convenient reverse commute for those who live in or near Boston and is easy accessible by all major highways. On the way to and from work, you’ll pass coffee shops, restaurants, bars, and shopping!

n June of 2018, Barton Associates moved it’s Worcester, MA office to one of the premier locations in the city – The Mercantile Center. Surrounded by great shops and restaurants, our new home is in the heart of it all! In the summer, or spring if you are brave, walk over to the WooSox new field, home to one of the Boston Red Sox minor league teams.

In February 2013, Barton Associates’ “Hardwick” office moved from its space at the Hardwick Kilns to the classic renovated building that was formerly home to the Wheelwright School. Although one of our smaller offices, the Hardwick location houses many of our sales support team members and is situated between Springfield and Worcester, MA.

Our Connecticut roots date back to 2010. After outgrowing our 5,200-square-foot space in Enfield, the team moved to its newly-renovated Windsor office in April 2017. This office is situated between Springfield, MA, and Hartford, CT, and is just a short drive from its exit off Route 91, providing a prime location for western New England residents. It’s truly a commuting dream.

Just 5 miles north of downtown, Barton Associates’ Austin office opened its doors in September 2014. By January 2020 we outgrew this office and moved upstairs to an even larger, more open space to accommodate our growing sales team. With nearly 20,000 square feet of bright, open space, a gym, a giant kitchen, and large conference rooms, the Austin location presents a prime environment for launching your career.

West Palm Beach, Florida

When we outgrew our 5,400-square-foot location in Jupiter, it was time to go BIG for Barton’s Florida team. In September 2016, we packed our bags and headed to our new home in West Palm Beach, just down the road from City Place. Formerly a Bally’s Gym, the massive 45,000-square-foot facility was gutted and masterfully designed and renovated to house our rapidly growing Florida team. This growth continued in 2021 when Barton Healthcare Staffing expanded from the Peabody MA office and joined the Barton Associates team in sunny Florida!

Barton Associates’ Tempe location opened in August 2015 and has nearly 13,000 square feet of prime office space. Barton Tempe is about 3 miles from the ASU campus and just under 2 miles from the popular Mill Avenue District, where you’ll find many bars, restaurants, and shops.

In 2018, Barton Associates opened two offices in Las Vegas; one near the UNLV campus and one in Summerlin. On May 19th 2023, we officially combined offices at our newest, fully renovated location. This new location offers expanded office hours, allowing even more flexibly (and earning potential).
