Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Addiction Medicine Nurse Practitioner for a part-time locum tenens position at a Chemical Dependency Clinic in New York. This 16-day assignment begins on 04/07/2025 and offers a flexible schedule of 2 days per week (Mondays and Tuesdays) from 7 AM to 1 PM, with 3-5 hours per day based on patient census. The role involves conducting initial addiction/psychiatric evaluations, setting up follow-up appointments, and managing patients in both detox and residential settings. As the census grows, there is potential for increased hours and extended assignment duration.

Schedule: Mondays and Tuesdays, 7 AM - 1 PM (3-5 hours/day)


Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Conduct initial addiction and psychiatric evaluations (approximately 45 minutes each) 

• Develop treatment plans and schedule follow-up appointments  

• Provide ongoing care through weekly or bi-weekly follow-up sessions 

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive patient care 

• Prescribe and manage medications for addiction treatment 

• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using Kipu EHR system 

• Offer patient education on addiction recovery and relapse prevention 

• Stay current with the latest developments in addiction medicine 

• Adapt to changing patient census and potentially increase work hours as needed 

• Ensure patient safety and confidentiality throughout treatment


Additional Information: 

• New York Nurse Practitioner license required 

• Familiarity with Kipu electronic health record system is beneficial
