Barton Associates is seeking a Physician Assistant - Critical Care Hospitalist for a locum tenens position at a hospital in Iowa. This 60-day assignment begins on 06/16/2025, with 10-hour shifts from 12 PM to 10 PM, requiring a minimum of 10 shifts per month. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in an ICU, performing rounds, and managing approximately 15 patients per day, with 1-2 new encounters per shift and consults as needed. The role involves minimal procedural work and very rare intubations. Experience with Epic EMR is preferred, and an active Iowa license is required. This position also offers the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Provide critical care to patients in an ICU 

• Perform daily rounds on assigned patients 

• Manage approximately 15 patients per day 

• Handle 1-2 new patient encounters per shift 

• Provide consults as needed 

• Collaborate with the assigned RN for shift assistance 

• Utilize Epic EMR for patient documentation and management 

• Work effectively in an open ICU environment 

• Communicate with patients, families, and healthcare team members 

• Adhere to hospital protocols and best practices in critical care 

• Participate in any required departmental meetings or training sessions

Additional Information: 

• Minimal procedural work required 

• Very rare intubations 

• Active Iowa license required 

• Experience with Epic EMR preferred 

• Trauma Center experience beneficial
