Job Description

We are seeking a licensed Family Practice Nurse Practitioner to fill a critical locum tenens position at a Multi-Specialty Clinic in Alaska. This 15-day assignment begins on 05/26/2025, with a work schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, including some occasional call coverage shifts. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing a variety of family medicine cases, including colds, coughs, flu symptoms, diabetes, hypertension, and substance abuse. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a skilled Nurse Practitioner to provide family care in a unique rural setting, with potential for extension.

Provider Type Needed: Family Practice Nurse Practitioner 

Schedule: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, with 24-hour call coverage and weekend call


Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Provide comprehensive primary care services to patients of all ages 

• Diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions, including cold, cough, flu, diabetes, and hypertension 

• Manage substance abuse cases and provide appropriate interventions 

• Conduct patient assessments and develop treatment plans 

• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and lab results 

• Prescribe medications and treatments as appropriate 

• Provide patient education on health maintenance and disease prevention 

• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals for patient care 

• Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records using Cerner 

• Participate in on-call rotations, including 24-hour coverage and weekends 

• Recognize and appropriately refer serious cases that require higher levels of care


Additional Information: 

• Must be licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Alaska 

• Experience in family practice or rural healthcare settings preferred 

• Strong clinical decision-making skills and ability to work independently 

• Flexibility to adapt to varying patient volumes and case complexity 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required 

• Willingness to work in a remote, rural environment
