Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Family Practice Physician for a 52-day locum tenens position at a correctional facility in Arizona. The assignment begins on 05/12/2025, with a flexible schedule of four 10-hour shifts per week from 6:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Duties include formulating diagnoses, developing and implementing treatment plans, evaluating patients, and performing basic procedures such as suturing and incision and drainage. This opportunity offers a chance to work in a unique correctional healthcare setting, utilizing the TechCare EMR system. The position also offers the possibility of assignment extension.

Job Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Provide direct and indirect medical care to inmates 

• Handle a variety of cases ranging from minor complaints to more complex issues 

• Formulate working diagnoses and develop treatment plans 

• Perform basic procedures such as suturing and incision and drainage 

• Evaluate and modify therapeutic regimens as needed 

• Assess patients returning for follow-up care 

• Utilize TechCare EMR system for documentation 

• Collaborate with correctional staff and other healthcare professionals 

• Adhere to correctional facility protocols and safety standards 

• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records 

• Stay updated on the latest advancements in correctional healthcare 

• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and professionalism in a correctional setting


Additional Information: 

• Arizona state medical license required 

• Experience in family practice or urgent care settings essential 

• Familiarity with correctional healthcare preferred 

• Comfort with basic procedures and urgent care scenarios 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, secure environment
