Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Gastroenterologist for a 40-day locum tenens position at a hospital in California. The assignment begins on 09/29/2025, with a schedule of Monday to Friday from 7 AM to 4 PM, covering specific weeks. The physician will primarily focus on inpatient scoping procedures, performing approximately 10 scopes per day to help address a 6-month backlog. While the initial focus is on scoping, there is potential for the role to evolve into more comprehensive care, including outpatient visits. The position also offers the possibility of assignment extension.

Job Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Perform inpatient gastroenterology procedures, primarily scopes 

• Complete approximately 10 scopes per day 

• Utilize Epic electronic health record system for documentation 

• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals as needed 

• Provide pre- and post-procedure patient care 

• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records 

• Adhere to hospital protocols and safety standards 

• Stay updated on the latest advancements in gastroenterology 

• Potential to expand role to include outpatient visits and on-call duties if desired 

• Flexibility to work during holiday periods

Additional Information: 

• California state medical license required 

• Strong experience in gastroenterological procedures essential 

• Familiarity with Epic electronic health record system preferred
