Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Gastroenterologist for a locum tenens position at a Hospital in Pennsylvania. This 60-day assignment starts on 06/23/2025, with a schedule of 1-2 weeks per month, working 7 AM to 7 AM shifts from Monday to Monday. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with general gastroenterology procedures, including upper and lower endoscopies, inpatient consultations, and hospital procedures. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic hospital setting, providing comprehensive gastroenterology care to patients. The physician will be responsible for managing both inpatient and outpatient cases, handling on-call duties, and collaborating with the hospital's healthcare team.

Job Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Perform upper and lower endoscopic procedures 

• Provide inpatient consultations Monday-Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM 

• Handle hospital procedures and consultations 

• Manage unrestricted call from 4:30 PM to 7 AM on weekdays 

• Cover 24-hour unrestricted call from Friday to Sunday 

• Diagnose and treat various gastrointestinal disorders 

• Develop and implement treatment plans for patients 

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams 

• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using Cerner EHR system 

• Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols 

• Stay updated on the latest advancements in gastroenterology 

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives as required


Additional Information: 

• Must be licensed to practice medicine in Pennsylvania 

• Experience with Cerner electronic health record system preferred 

• Strong clinical skills in gastroenterology procedures 

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team 

• Excellent communication skills for patient care and team collaboration 

• Flexibility to manage both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities 

• Possibility of assignment extension beyond the initial 60 days
