Barton Associates is seeking a skilled General Surgeon for a locum tenens position at a Hospital in Georgia. This 21-day assignment begins on 06/05/2025, providing 24-hour call coverage from 7 AM to 7 AM. The ideal candidate will be proficient in handling emergency general surgery cases, including upper and lower endoscopies. This role involves ED backup, no elective cases, and requires the ability to manage all potential general surgery cases. The position utilizes Epic EMR system and offers the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Provide emergency call coverage for the General Surgery team 

• Perform upper and lower endoscopies as needed 

• Handle all types of general surgery cases that may arise during the assignment 

• Offer ED backup support

• Utilize Epic electronic health record system for documentation 

• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care 

• Maintain a high standard of patient care and safety 

• Communicate effectively with patients about their conditions and treatment options 

• Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures 

• Participate in on-call duties as required 

• Manage time efficiently to respond to emergency cases 

• Stay updated on the latest surgical techniques and best practices

Requirements: 

• Active Georgia state medical license 

• Board certification in General Surgery 

• Experience in emergency general surgery cases 

• Proficiency in performing upper and lower endoscopies 

• Comfort with handling a wide range of general surgery procedures 

• Familiarity with Epic electronic health record system 

• Excellent surgical skills and ability to work under pressure 

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
