Job Description

 We are seeking a skilled Hematologist/Oncologist for a 120-day locum tenens assignment at a hospital in California. Starting on 06/16/2025, this opportunity offers a comprehensive schedule including 5-day work weeks with 24-hour call shifts, one weekend on-call per month, and an optional day of telehealth. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing a full spectrum of benign and malignant conditions in adult patients, including solid tumors, benign hematology disorders, and malignant hematology cases. This role involves providing new consultations, evening cross coverage, and night calls across two hospital locations. The position requires expertise in diagnosing, treating, and managing complex hematological and oncological conditions using the Cerner electronic health record system.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Diagnose and treat adult patients with benign and malignant hematological and oncological conditions

• Manage solid tumors, benign hematology disorders (clotting disorders, anemia, cytopenias, sickle cell, etc.)

• Treat malignant hematology cases including acute and chronic leukemias

• Provide new consultations and evening cross coverage for two hospital locations

• Handle night calls and emergent patient care needs

• Utilize Cerner electronic health record system for patient documentation

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care

• Participate in tumor boards and treatment planning sessions

• Maintain accurate and timely medical records

• Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures

• Provide patient education on treatment options and disease management

• Stay updated on the latest advancements in hematology and oncology


Additional Information:

• California state medical license required

• Proficiency in Cerner EHR system preferred

• Comfort with both in-person and telehealth consultations
