Job Description

 We are seeking an experienced Hospice/Palliative Medicine Physician for a virtual locum tenens position with a hospice in Maine. This 36-day assignment, starting 04/28/2025, requires coverage for 4 hours per week, with flexible 1-hour shifts between 12 PM - 1 PM EST, Monday through Friday (preferably Monday and Friday with a day off in between). The physician will oversee a hospice with 2 patients, establish and implement treatment plans, manage medication changes, supervise NPs and CNAs, and attend bi-weekly IDG meetings. This role offers a blend of virtual patient care and team supervision, with potential for extension beyond the initial 36-day period.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Establish and implement treatment plans for hospice patients

• Manage medication changes as needed

• Supervise and support NPs and CNAs in patient care

• Oversee and adjust treatment plans based on NP feedback

• Attend bi-weekly IDG meetings to review treatment plans

• Prescribe medications for patients (DEA required)

• Utilize RxNT EMR system for patient documentation and management

• Collaborate with the hospice care team to ensure effective patient care

• Provide virtual consultations and support to on-site staff

• Adhere to all relevant medical and ethical guidelines in hospice care


Additional Information:

• Must be licensed to practice medicine in Maine

• DEA license required for prescribing medications

• Experience in hospice and palliative care essential

• Strong communication skills for effective virtual team management

• Ability to work independently in a remote setting
