Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Physician Assistant specializing in Internal Medicine for a locum tenens position at a healthcare facility in Virginia. This 85-day assignment begins on 05/05/2025, with a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Responsibilities include managing acute medicine cases, conducting admissions and physicals, and treating chronic conditions. There is also potential for extension beyond the initial assignment period.

Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Provide comprehensive care for post-acute and long-term care patients aged 50+ 

• Manage acute medical conditions and perform patient admissions 

• Conduct physical examinations and health assessments 

• Develop and implement treatment plans for chronic conditions 

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care 

• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using PointClickCare and GeriMed software 

• Prescribe and manage medications appropriate for the geriatric population 

• Provide patient and family education on health maintenance and disease prevention 

• Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations and standards 

• Participate in care planning meetings and quality improvement initiatives 

• Adapt to the facility's established protocols and procedures


Additional Information: 

• Must be licensed as a Physician Assistant in Virginia 

• Experience with PointClickCare and GeriMed software is beneficial 

• Strong clinical skills in internal medicine and geriatric care required 

• Excellent communication skills for effective patient and family interactions 

• Ability to work independently and make informed clinical decisions 

• Flexibility to handle a variety of medical cases in a post-acute care setting
