Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Neonatal Nurse Practitioner for a locum tenens position at a hospital in Pennsylvania. This 20-day assignment begins on 07/01/2025, with a potential for extension. The role involves providing full-scope NICU intensive care, including procedures such as intubation for babies as young as 27 weeks, PICC line insertion, chest tube placement, and lumbar punctures. The NNP will also participate in land and air transports. Various shift options are available, including 10-hour day shifts, 16-hour night shifts, 12-hour weekend shifts, and 24-hour shifts. Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Provide comprehensive care for neonates in the NICU 

• Perform advanced procedures including intubation, PICC line insertion, chest tube placement, and lumbar punctures 

• Manage care for premature infants as young as 27 weeks gestation 

• Participate in land and air transport of critically ill neonates 

• Collaborate with neonatologists and other NICU team members 

• Communicate effectively with families about patient care and progress 

• Utilize Cerner EMR system for patient documentation and management 

• Ensure compliance with all hospital policies and procedures 

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to neonatal care 

• Provide mentorship and training to less experienced staff if needed 

• Adapt to various shift schedules as required


Additional Information: 

• Experience in full-scope NICU care required 

• Comfort with advanced neonatal procedures essential 

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills 

• Ability to work efficiently in a high-stress environment 

• Willingness to learn new skills if lacking transport experience 

• Current Pennsylvania NP license required
