Job Description

Barton Associates is seeking a Pathologist specializing in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP) for a locum tenens assignment at a laboratory/diagnostic center in Massachusetts. This opportunity involves providing services starting 06/09/2025, for a duration of 100 days. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with no call or weekend duties. The pathologist will be responsible for handling a wide range of complex cases, including GYN, breast, GI, GU, and lung pathology. Daily workload includes rush biopsies from various organs, small mucosal biopsies, and routine surgical specimens.

Provider Type Needed: Board-Certified Pathologist (AP/CP) 

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 am to 5 pm (No call, no weekends)


Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Perform comprehensive anatomic and clinical pathology services 

• Handle complex cases in GYN, breast, GI, GU, and lung pathology 

• Process and interpret rush biopsies from breast, liver, lung, kidney, and bone marrow 

• Analyze small mucosal biopsies including GI, GYN, prostate, and bladder 

• Manage routine surgical specimens 

• Provide timely and accurate diagnoses for a high volume of cases 

• Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure optimal patient care 

• Maintain accurate and detailed pathology reports using Epic EMR system 

• Ensure high-quality diagnostic services and maintain professional standards 

• Adapt to the laboratory's protocols and procedures for specimen handling and reporting 

• Stay current with the latest advancements in pathology techniques and diagnostics 

• Participate in multidisciplinary team discussions as needed


Additional Information: 

• Massachusetts medical license required 

• Experience in both anatomic and clinical pathology essential 

• Comfort with managing a diverse range of complex pathology cases 

• Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume laboratory setting 

• Familiarity with electronic health record systems, particularly Epic 

• Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills 

• Potential for assignment extension beyond the initial 100 days
