Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner for a locum tenens position at a Hospital in Arizona. This 60-day assignment starts on 05/12/2025, with a Monday to Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The ideal candidate will be licensed in AK, AZ, CO, CT, DE, DC, HI, ID, IA, KS, ME, MD, MA, MN, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, NY, OR, RI, SD, VT, WA, or WY and comfortable providing outpatient psychiatric care for patients of all ages, primarily through telehealth services, as well as assisting with consultations on the medical and emergency department floors. This role offers an opportunity to deliver comprehensive psychiatric care in both virtual and in-person settings, ensuring high-quality mental health services for a diverse patient population.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (40-hour weeks)


Job Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Provide outpatient psychiatric care for patients of all ages 

• Conduct telehealth appointments with patients remotely connecting to the facility 

• Perform psychiatric evaluations and develop treatment plans 

• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications 

• Offer consultations on the medical and emergency department floors 

• Utilize RPMS electronic health record system for documentation 

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams 

• Provide crisis intervention when necessary 

• Maintain accurate and timely medical records 

• Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures 

• Stay updated on current best practices in psychiatric care 

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives 

• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members 

• Manage patient flow efficiently to ensure timely care


Additional Information: 

• Must be licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in one of the following states: AK, AZ, CO, CT, DE, DC, HI, ID, IA, KS, ME, MD, MA, MN, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, NY, OR, RI, SD, VT, WA, or WY 

• Board certification in Psychiatry required 

• Experience with RPMS EHR system preferred 

• Strong clinical skills in managing diverse psychiatric conditions 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

• Ability to work independently in a hospital setting 

• Comfort with telehealth service delivery 

• Flexibility to adapt to varying patient needs and consultation requests 

• Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered mental health care 

• Possibility of assignment extension beyond the initial 60 days
