Barton Associates is seeking an experienced Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner for a 120-day locum tenens position at a hospital in Massachusetts. Starting on 05/05/2025, this assignment offers a full-time schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in an inpatient setting, providing care for patients with severe mental health conditions and acute psychiatric needs. Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments
- Develop and implement treatment plans for patients with severe mental health conditions
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications
- Provide crisis intervention and management
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Participate in treatment team meetings and care conferences
- Provide patient and family education regarding mental health conditions and treatment options
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using Cerner EMR system
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety protocols
- Provide consultation to other healthcare providers as needed
- Stay current with best practices and evidence-based treatments in psychiatric care
Additional Information:
- Massachusetts nurse practitioner license required
- Board certification in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) preferred
- Experience in acute inpatient psychiatric care essential
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Potential for assignment extension
