Job Description

A hospital in Washington, D.C. is seeking an experienced Radiation Oncologist for a 130-day locum tenens assignment starting 07/14/2025. This role involves conducting new patient visits and initiating radiation treatments. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with the possibility of extended hours on treatment days. The workload typically includes 3 clinic days and 2 treatment days per week, managing 35-40 treatments per day in collaboration with another physician. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with a busy patient load and proficient in using the Cerner electronic health record system. This opportunity also offers the potential for extension.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM (may extend on treatment days)


Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Provide comprehensive radiation oncology care 

• Conduct new patient consultations and follow-up visits 

• Initiate and manage radiation treatment plans 

• Oversee 35-40 radiation treatments per day (shared with another physician) 

• Perform patient examinations and monitor treatment progress 

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary oncology teams 

• Maintain accurate and timely medical records using Cerner EMR 

• Participate in tumor boards and care conferences as needed 

• Ensure adherence to radiation safety protocols 

• Provide patient and family education on treatment plans and side effects 

• Manage a mix of clinic days and treatment days efficiently 

• Utilize administrative time effectively for documentation and treatment planning


Additional Information: 

• Washington, D.C. medical license required 

• Experience with high-volume radiation oncology practice preferred 

• Familiarity with Cerner electronic health record system preferred 

• Flexibility to manage both clinic and treatment days 

• Potential for assignment extension
