Job Description

Barton Associates is seeking an experienced Wound Care Nurse Practitioner for a 240-day locum tenens position at a hospital in Wisconsin. Starting on 05/12/2025, this assignment offers a full-time schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with no weekends or call requirements. The ideal candidate will be proficient in various wound care procedures, including debridement, contact casting, and skin substitutes. Responsibilities include comprehensive wound assessment, cleansing, dressing, culture collection, advanced wound care techniques, patient education, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals. This role utilizes the Epic EMR system and offers the potential for extension beyond the initial 240-day period.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Conduct thorough wound assessments, including tissue condition, drainage, and pressure injuries
  • Perform wound cleansing, irrigation, and dressing application
  • Obtain wound culture specimens and address potential infections
  • Execute wound debridement procedures
  • Apply advanced wound care techniques, such as negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) and cellular/tissue-based products (CTPs)
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Provide patient and family education on wound care, prevention, and management
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation using Epic EMR system
  • Monitor wound healing progress and adjust care plans as needed
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests related to wound care
  • Identify and address underlying factors affecting wound healing
  • Perform contact casting and apply skin substitutes as required
  • Work in an outpatient clinic setting


Additional Information:
